TheraDep Technologies has opened a new Innovation and Surface Coatings Center of Excellence in Youghal, County Cork, Ireland, giving the company a dedicated European base for developing and scaling its BioDep™ coating technology. The center includes R&D labs, an ISO Class 8 cleanroom, room for a second cleanroom, and the ability to upgrade both to ISO Class 7. Its main focus will be advancing BioDep coatings for medical devices and preparing partner technologies for commercial manufacturing. BioDep uses cold plasma to bond biomaterials or drugs to medical and life-science surfaces while using about 100 times less biomaterial than conventional methods. EIN Presswire
TheraDep says several strategic partnerships are already underway at the site. The company has hired its first two local employees and plans to add more positions. The opening is also notable locally because it represents what officials described as the first life-sciences investment of significant scale in Youghal.
